Knot: Ankle sprains can cause more than just ligament injury. Sometimes tendons in the same area can also become injured. Tendon injuries can lead to conditions known as ganglionic cyst. As ganglionic cyst mature they change from a soft spongy type of structure to a smaller hard structure. Sometimes they will clear on their own while others will require medical attention.

Knot: At what point did the knot occur? This helps in determining what it is. Possible to get a hematoma or ganglion cyst to area. Check with yor treating dr.
