See below: Prednisone raises a white blood cell and Methotrexate can lower it. As your doctor has tapered down the prednisone, the effects of the Methotrexate are showing themselves. Prednisone is not to be used to keep a white blood normal. Your doctor may want to change your regimen to something else.
