Difficult to tell: Without looking at radiographs it is hard to determine the cause of your issue. A visit to your local orthopedic surgeon would help you narrow the cause of you problem.

X-rays: The x-rays really should tell the answer. A dislocated elbow is an emergency, and really should be diagnosed quite easily. Fractures can be more subtle. Either way you should have most questions answered as soon as the x-rays are reviewed.
