Almost certainly yes: It would help to know if the diagnosis was made as part of checking for chest pain or other symptoms. If so a more definitive study is needed to assess your risk of surgery. Aortic root calcification is extremely common and due to many lifestyle and genetic factors. In and of itself it requires no specific caution or even treatment. But your overall health should be assesses at some point.

Probably: Your cardiologist or primary care will be providing the surgeon with the clearance to proceed or not as minor calcification on x-ray in itself is not a contraindication for minor surgeries but if additional associated signs or symptoms are present alongwith the above finding then you may need more work-up prior to surgery.
