When to get checked: Was your open ventral hernia repair done urgently? Did you have any episodes of low blood pressure? Okay to get in with your surgeon or er to get evaluated for these new symptoms. Postprandial nausea and emesis, unfortunately could represent acalculous cholecystitis. A tech hida nuclear scan will get the diagnosis. Go sooner if you develop fever or worsening pain.

Gallstones?: Classically the symptoms you describe would suggest a biliary cause like gallstones? These may be unrelated to your hernia surgery. An ultrasound could rule those in or out for you. Best to follow-up with your surgeon to see whether this is related to the hernia or a completely separate issue.
