Genes and lifestyle: Angina comes from atherosclerosis of the coronary arteries. This is caused by risk factors (age, gender, cholesterol, blood pressure, smoking, diabetes, family genetics). Usually it develops after age 50, but can be earlier with certain inherited genes. The major one is familial hypercholesterolemia, which can be detected through a simple cholesterol test. Any chest pain needs urgent md evaluation.

Angina.: "Angina" refers essentially to a chest pain attributable to a reduction in blood perfusion to an area of the heart. While angina itself is not heritable, factors that can lead to angina, or heart disease in a more general sense, are heritable - hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, and family history of heart disease to name some.
