Skin Tags Home Rx: The most effective home approach to skin tags would be the same as home treatment for warts. Dr. Scholls makes a freeze away canister for freezing warts. Used as directed, this should be effective for small to medium size skin tags. http://www.drscholls.com/drscholls/wartremoval/freezeaway.jsp.

Scissor & styptic : Pencil or tie a thread around the base. Better to let your md do it.

How brave are you?: I have heard of people tying a thread around the base or using nail clippers (sterilized with alcohol first, of course). Better yet, just go see your local plastic surgeon or dermatologist and have him/her remove them for you.

A sharp scissor.: I am not recommending that you do this your self, but tags are usually snipped with a sharp scissor.

Diagnose first: An accurate diagnosis is essential. If you are absolutely sure simple excision flush with the skin followed by a topical antibiotic ointment for a day is generally acceptable treatment. However it could be something else such as an involuted hemangioma or nevis or papilloma. Confirm with a dermatologist first before taking matters into your own hands.
