Might help: You should discuss this with the dentist that will treat you. Information about your health and other medication you take may be significant. When we medicate a patient, if needed, we prefer a medication with a shorter half-life.

Panic attack: Don't self medicate. Ask your dentist what he/she prefers. Nitrous oxide may help, valium is something i prescribe to patients. Make sure to check with your dentist and physician before taking anything.

Dental anxiety: Everyone reacts differently to medications. You should consult with your dentist on what would work best for you. Many offices can do sedation dentistry, this may be an option to help you.
