Muscle imbalance?: See your doc; assuming truly trochanteric bursitis, likely benefit from physical therapy. Specific rx needs to handled by you and your md. Acetaminophen may help re: pain, doesn't affect inflammation though.

Steroid injection: Steroid injections into the bursa can help with trochanteric bursistis. Physical therapy may also help. Recommend seeing your doctor to confirm diagnosis and discuss treatment options.
