May be prep: It may be the prep soap you see. "swelling" of the abdomen after surgery is also common. You should however call your surgeon if you're really concerned.

May be a bruise: Cuts are made in skin to insert instruments for laparascopic cholecystectomy (gall bladder removal). Some blood vessels are cut and bruising may occur. When a bruise resolves, approximately within a week, it goes through stages of purple to green to yellow to normal skin. A small amount of swelling is ok as long as it is not painful or warm. If it is, please see your surgeon as soon as possible.
