Thyroid scans: In short the answer is "no." a thyroid scan looks only at the thryoid gland. The ultrasound technique could be used to examine the lymph nodes, detect any cysts, even measure obstruction of the carotid arteries, but these abnormalities won't be looked for unless there is a specific request, which is appropriate. Looking beyond the specific target tends to detect irrelevant findings.

No it wont: A thyroid ultrasound will show details pertaining to the thyroid gland and surrounding structures like arteries, veins and lymph nodes but not structures within the throat.
