For pain: Gabapentin is a pain medication used primarily for nerve related pain. It will not improve spinal stenosis or disk herniation but it can help reduce pain caused by these problems if they are irritating the nerves in the area.

It can be for some : But may need to be adjusted in dosage as well as combined with other treatments (physical therapy, epidural steroid injections for example) including treatment with other classes of medication such ad a non steroidal anti inflammatory if no contraindications to their use.
