Breathing test: Pulmonary function test (pfts) are non-invasive breathing studies done with a computer. You breathe into it according to the direction of the technician and it measures the volume of air and forces during breathing. Often then you breath in a medicine that relieves airway spasm (bronchodilator) to measure any changes resulting. Another part of the test measures gas exchange at the alveolar level.
