Soft tissue trauma: It sounds like soft tissue trauma, but because of the discomfort and swelling it is worthwhile having your finace examined as soon as possible. Excessive swelling can compress important structures in this area and lead to further damage, so be careful and get it checked.

Treat symptomaticly: Injuries to the soft tissues of the body below the skin cause swelling and can also cause the veins in the skin below the injury to bleed. This is what causes the area to become black and blue. Over about a week the body reabsorbs the blood, the swelling subsides and the area heals. The initial treatment is ice to the injured area, elevation and compression usually with an ace wrap.

Probably not: but to be safe better to go see your doctor to make sure all is ok.
