Maybe: If you are happy with your current activity level/lifestyle and not buckling with everyday activities you may not need to have acl reconstruction. If you want to eventually return to jumping, pivoting, change of direction activities then you might consider surgery. An experienced sports medicine ortho can guide you towards making an appropriate decision.

Maybe: If you damaged your meniscus you, and that is the only thing addressed with surgery, you are at risk for further joint damage including arthritis.

Difficult answer: Many factors at play here. Chronic acl. Maybe a medial meniscus tear. Possible arthritis because of chronic acl deficiency. Depends upon symptoms other than rare buckling. I would advise eval by ortho sports doc to discuss all options.
