Location -location: Where on the left hip is important. The outside lateral pelvis is moro ofter due to bursitis. This is called trochanteric bursitis. Walking stresses this irritated area and hence you get pain. You evaluation would include finding pain over the outside where the bursa is when you press on the area. Therapy can be include physical therapy, exercises to strengthen the area and injections.
