A member asked:

Is it myth or true that expired tetracycline is toxic? are there some studies or just one paper from ~50 years ago? any good, modern data about it?

See below: The current issue of mandel's infectious disease text states that outdated tetracycline has produced a reversible fanconi-like syndrome with renal tubular acidosis, but tetracycline formulations producing this syndrome have been modified. It is unlikely that this complication will recur. No references were given.
