A member asked:

Why can't live vaccines be given at the same time? or can they? is it because they will create too many antibodies in your body?

Many can: We routinely give the MMR & varicella (all live)at the same time but delay the varicella by 28 days if not given at the same time. This is more from research showing that the best way to assure a significant body response to the vaccine. If anything, the body might be too busy making antibodies to the first vaccines that it would make less for the second.

They can! : We often give live vaccines at the same visit, . An example would be MMR ii and the varivax vaccine. Mmr ii is the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine which is a live vaccine with inactivated virus. And the varivax is the chicken pox vaccine which is also a live vaccine.
