No: Stopping a diuretic will not make gout worse. In fact, it may lower the serum uric acid level therby reducing the risk of future attacks.

It can: If you are taking Furosemide for congestive heart failure, hyperuricemia can be present. This increased uric acid level may lead to gout. Talk to your doctor about this.
