No: Stopping a diuretic will not make gout worse. In fact, it may lower the serum uric acid level therby reducing the risk of future attacks.

It can: If you are taking Furosemide for congestive heart failure, hyperuricemia can be present. This increased uric acid level may lead to gout. Talk to your doctor about this.

I'm suffering Uric Acid issue for the past 8 yrs. I used to take Allupurinol Tablets 300mg for 1 month followed by 100 mg for 2 months, then my Uric Acid level gets reduced. After stopping medication for 2 months again level increases and gout pain.
