A member asked:

What can i take to stop gout pain in the ankles?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Allopurinol: Gout is a problem with purine (protein) metabolism that results in excess uric acid in the blood stream. This ends up inflaming joints. A low purine diet and good hydration help. Anti-inflammatories and Colchicine (colcrys) help acute attacks. For long term control, your doctor will usually put you on allopurinol.
