Indocin (indomethacin) is: An antiinflammatory. If you have gout you need to control your Uric acid levels. If you don't, you could potentially have recurring gout attacks. The Indocin (indomethacin) was to help alleviate the sequela of the gout attack but you should be looking to get the gout itself under control. (Actually, your doc should be looking to do this...)

See details: How do you know it is gout? Was the joint aspirated and crystals found.? Was the joint at the base of the great toe involved? if it is gout, Indomethacin should be continued until the attack totally resolves. Then a combination of Colcrys and Allopurinol started to normalize serum uric acid.
