Depends: The frequency of wound care depends on the type of surgery, location of wound, size of wound, type of closure, and other information. You should consult your surgeon for their specific instruction . Causes of concern for a wound infection include fevers, pain and redness of area that is worsening, and pus or odor from incision area.

Depends: You should see what your surgeon wants you to do? Usually you will get an instruction sheet regarding your post-operative care. Or call the surgeon's office with your question.

Depends on the wound: Dressing change frequency needs to be determined by your physician. Some wounds require frequent changes, while others require the dressing to be performed several days after the surgery. Consult with your physician as to how frequently he or she would like you to have the dressing changed.

Depends on the wound: This is all determined by the type of wound that you have. No opening dressing on for a couple of days. Open wound then depends on the wound care ordered by the physician.

Depends: I depends on size of wound, what kind of product you are putting on and how much drainage it has. Ideally, the surgeon should have given you some guidelines but generally if the dressing is wet, it needs to be changed.

First change: It depends on the type of wound and the operation. Typically, the first post surgical dressing change occurs in 48-72 hours with the subsequent frequency of dressing changes dedicated by the above mentioned factors.
