A member asked:

How does taking a cns stimulant for narcolepsy with an snri cause serotonin syndrome? i also take trazadone at night.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Serotonin syndrome: Medications that enhance the release of certain neurotransmitters in the brain like serotonin or norepinephrine increase the risk of serotonin syndrome when used in combination with other drugs or medications that reduce the clearance of those neurotransmitters (like ssri or snri). The incidence of this syndrome is low. However it is very serious and could be life-threatening.
