My doctor has recently put me on 50mg of sertraline to take alongside 150mg of trazodone. i saw online that taking them both will increase my risk of serotonin syndrome. i dont really want to question him but is it safe to take them both together?

The interaction is rare but it may occur; however, there is no contraindication for this combination if indicated. You just have to know the symptoms of serotonin syndrome and if you have one of these symptoms, stop both medications and contact your doctor.

This type of medication should be prescribed by a Psychiatrist who would have a complete physical exam and understand your medical history. If you are not confident in your Doctor please see another for a second opinion.
