Brain scarring: The process of brain healing is called gliosis, a type of scar formed by glia, types of cells in centrail nervous system that support and protect neurons (nerve cells). Scars in the brain may be caused by strokes, injury/trauma, a bleed into the brain, infection, alzheimer's disease, infection, multiple sclerosis, certain cancers, and a number of other conditions.
