Black dots: The spots you see may or may not be cavities. Those pits hold organic debris, stain, and often bacteria. Given time, sugar, and bacteria those stains turn into cavities faster. How hard you chew has a greater effect on whether you crack your teeth and whether you are wearing away enamel. Any dentist could tell you whether these stains have turned into cavities.

No typically not: If your bite is uneven or you clench or grind your teeth you usually notice a flattening or wearing of the entire biting surface. If the colors or depths in the pits and fissures of your teeth change in depth you should probably consult your dds to have a general exam and x-rays and a check for new cavities in these pits and fissures. Good luck.
