Incarceration: Most of the time very small umbilical hernias will not cause any trauble, how ever always a chance of getting incarcerated , especially 2 cm or more size, elective surgery is a simple procedure.

Surgery: For an umbilical hernia has little or no long term problems. Discomforts resolve soon after surgery. There would be a low chance of hernia recurrenc in the future. Otherwise should be back to normal once the surgical site is fully healed..
