Good anesthesiologis: Ask a surgeon who would he ask to be the anesthesiologist for his mother. The surgeons work with the anesthesiologists all the time. There are anesthesiologist they feel good with even inside the most difficult cases. More complicated cases an anesthesiologist does, more likely he or she can handle a routine one.

For pain?: Interventional pain anesthesiologists should want to treat you with more than just procedures and narcotics. I would say that the longer they take the better. If they offer you a spinal cord stimulator on first visit you might want a second opinion
