If the airway is: Compromised, it can also affect the structural development of the face including the jaw. Bring her to her pediatrician to check her tonsils and adenoids. If she sucks her thumb, it will make the condition worse. You can also bring her to the dentist so she can be evaluated orthopedically.

Drooling at > 18 mos: Is not typical. It may be from low oral motor tone if her mouth stays open & her tongue protrudes. Generally, kids with low tone of the tongue & buccal (cheek) muscles have articulation (speech) & fine motor (arm & hand use) delays. They may over-pack food in their cheeks when eating. See her pediatrician & dentist. Call your school district's child find team for developmental assessment.
