Prostate surgery: Turp is transurethral resection of the prostate gland, or trimming out the obstructing portion of the prostate tissue from within the center of the gland, done with a scope-like instrument thru the penis. The "button" is a small bead on the end of the scope thru which electrical current passes which vaporizes and removes the tissue.
