Opacity: Means anything that replaces normal air filled lung. It might represent pneumonia, airless lung (atelectasis), tumor, fluid, blood, fibrosis, or even reaction of the lung from aspiration. The findings need to be correlated with your doctor's concerns. If it remains unclear about what the suspected cause of the opacity might be, it is not uncommon to get a follow up exam in a couple of months.
