Verify: I would review your results with your doctor. You indicated a high hemoglobin s and a low hemoglobin a---do you have percentages of the hemoglobins. Was a complete blood count done and results?

Sickle beta thal: If you have high HGB s and low HGB a, then you have sickle beta-plus thalassemia ( if you have HGB a1), or sickle beta-zero thalassemia. ( if you have HGB a2 not HGB a1). These are both forms of sickle cell disease not trait. Beta zero is just as severe as homozygous sickle cell anemia (hgb ss); beta plus is milder in terms of symptoms.
