My daughter is 2 & her doc said her hemoglobin level was a little low. 10.something. doc doesn't think it was anemia but a trait. what does that mean?

Anemia: Do you or does her father have an inherited red blood cell disorder like sickle cell anemia or thalassemia etc? Definitely you should ask your pediatrician further about what he/she means. What trait means most likely that she has a distinguishing genetically determined feature on her complete blood count result- that indicates mild abnormality on the rbc indices but not very significant.
