A member asked:

What will happen when you have a normal hemoglobin allele and a sickle cell allele?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Usually nothing: Sickle cells trait is usually asymptomatic. You may have trouble at high altitude or other low oxygen situations. If you marry a person with sickle cell trait or disease, you risk having a child with sickle cell disease.
