Does anxiety cause gerd? i don't understand how else i could have developed this. if i fix the anxiety will the gerd go away?

No, but: Generally speaking, anxiety does not cause gerd, but anxiety can cause gastrointestinal symptoms that mimic gerd. To the extent that a person's gerd-like symptoms are not truly due to gerd, but due to anxiety, they are likely to improve with treatment of anxiety. Nevertheless, it's not wise - without having a physician's eval - to assume that any physical symptom is due to a psychological cause.
