Ear pain: Two most common problems with dull ear ache: temporomandibular joint pain dysfunction (tmd or tmj) or ear infection. Ear infection could involve the canal or the middle ear, but your age alone would argue against a middle ear infection, unless you had a lot of problems with ear infections as a child. Tmd is more likely. Usually from grinding your teeth and can cause significant ear pain.
