Attempt: If you haven't had an x-ray of that ankle and proper diagnosis for whether you sustained a fracture (broken bone). I suggest that you attempt a visit to the podiatrist to have a diagnosis made and make sure that something more serious hasn't occurred. Soon.: Generally a mild sprain does not require anything other than restriction of activity that could further stress the ankle. You can weight bear as soon as you can tolerate it, but should be careful with uneven or unsupported surfaces. If the ankle hurts a great deal or seems unstable you should consider seeing someone.
