That or an MRI: But, a sound clinical exam first would be prudent. It is not unusual for a severe sprains to be bothersome for a couple of months after an injury. They can sometimes take longer to heal than a broken bone.

See an Ortho Surgeon: He needs to be re-evaluated to ensure another injury is not also present, and to modify treatment to properly address ongoing symptoms (if needed). Bracing may be needed, etc. Re-imaging with x-rays or other imaging modalities may be needed based on physical examination findings.

Have it re-evaluated: Ankle pain following and injury may last a long time. The pain may be due to a fracture, sprains, arthritis, or a soft tissue injury involving the tendon, ligaments or nerves . Have the foot evaluated so that you may get the appropriate care.
