Biotin: Severe biotin deficiency can cause loss of hair. However many other signs of deficiency would be present as well including: dermatitis, atrophic glossitis, hyperesthesia, muscle pain, lassitude, anorexia, and others. Very tiny doses of biotin will correct these deficiencies. Excess biotin will not help hair growth. Biotin toxicity has not been reported in humans despite getting large amounts.
