A member asked:

For what length of time do you carry chicken pox after exposure?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends on variables: If you never had it you may develop it 10-21 (ave 14) days after first exposure and become a new contagious case. You shed virus for a day or so before until 6-7 days after you first break out. If you had it & were passively exposed (in a room but no contact) you don't carry it.
