Varacella: You get chicken pox once but the second part of the disease, zoster or shingles can happen multiple times. It definitely can cause eye and ear problems in general but not specifically in pregnancy, If you are exposed to chicken pox or shingles while pregnant it can be very dangerous especially if you get it in the lungs.

Pox only once: Chicken pox only occurs once in a lifetime but the virus stays in your body & can reactivate causing Shingles. Chicken pox can cause multiple problems to unborn babies depending on the gestation when they are affected.
