A member asked:

Could somebody be partially lactose intolerant?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Possible: Lactose intolerance results from the inability to fully digest lactose. The sugar is then fermented by bacteria in the intestines which produce excess gas and acidic stool. How much residual lactase (lactose digesting enzyme) your intestine produces, and the type of bacteria that live in your intestines determines how much lactose you can consume before you become symptomatic.
