...: Epstein-barr virus is one of the most common human viruses and is the cause of infectious mononucleosis (aka "mono"). Symptoms of mono include fever, sore throat, and swollen lymph glands. The spleen can also become swollen because of the infection. There is no specific treatment other than supportive care for the symptoms.
