I'm wondering why are both a creatinine clearance test and a serum creatinine test done?

Creatinine clearance: People who want to find out their renal function will collect a 24 hour urine for creatinine clearance. The blood sample is used to calculate the clearance of creatinine in the urine as it will be sent off for a creatinine level. Without it, the clearance of creatinine could not be calculated. The result of the test give the actual glomerular filtration rate of the patient.
