Does vomiting cause the cavaties?

Acid: Stomach acid can speed the progression of cavities which are also caused by acid from certain bacteria. Diet, home hygiene habits, developmental anomalies, and time all have a part to play in causes for cavities. Best to have a dentist diagnose the cavities with radiographs and his/her eyes. Hope you find a solution to your cavities.

Possibly: Stomach contents is very acidic and will dissolve the enamel off the back of the upper and lower front teeth ANS well as the tongue side of the back teeth in some cases. It takes time and repeated episodes to have effect. Have a discussion with your dentist about your options to restore your teeth.

How often?: Vomiting is more likely to cause tooth erosions than cavities, although long term persistent vomiting will certainly contribute to tooth destruction and combined with poor oral hygiene and foods high in sugar content help speed the formation of cavities. An occasional episode of vomiting, especially if you thoroughly rinse out right afterwards, will have little detrimental effects.
