How are an orthopedic surgeon and a cervical spine surgeon different?

Spine surgeon: A spine surgeon may be either a neurosurgeon or an orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in spine available to both specialists. Generally, most orthopedic surgeons will refer patients to a spine specialist if they are not comfortable managing spine conditions. However, most orthopedists are capable of caring for neck problems nonsurgically (which works 80% of the time).

Neck surgeon: Orthopaedic surgeons care for joints like knees , shoulders, etc. Some orthopaedic surgeons or neurosurgeons specialize in spinal surgery. Therefore, they specialize in the care of the neck and back.
