Roux-en-y gastric bypass weight loss surgery, how effective is this?

Extremely : It is drastic but extremely effective in loosing wt, reversing hyperion, diabetes to varying degrees, dealing with arthritis etc. It does require lifelong commitment to how and what u eat. U should certainly consider consultation with bariatric center to discuss all the options. Btw, one can achieve same results by adhering to post bariatric diet but it is very hard. Good luck.

Gastric bypass: Very effective. In fact, it is the most effective weight loss operation when compared to the lap band and sleeve gastrectomy. In addition, it has nearly a 90% cure rate for type 2 diabetes. Most people lose between 65-70% of their excess body weight. So if you are 100lbs overweight, that's about 65-70lbs of weight loss at a year to 18 months.
