Bicarb wrong choice: There are lots of reasons for abdominal bloating & many are not due to the GI tract. Bowel "problems" often accompany GI disorders--whether functional or "organic." If pain with meals consider peptic (acid), biliary, pancreatic disease, maldigestion/ malabsorption, sibo. If bleeding or tenderness is present, this suggests inflammation, ischemia, or infection & certainly warrants evaluation.
