Have researchers discovered some other problems associated with the achilles that could be easily mistaken for tendinitis?

Enthesopathy: There is the location where the achilles tendon inserts into the heel bone (calcaneus). The achilles tendon has the strength to pull a force of 1, 400 pounds per square inch. This force can literally tear the tendon out of or away from the heel bone. The heel bone then grows bone spurs at that location of the tendon tear. This bone spur can be very tender. Also known as enthesopathy. See-podiatrist.

Same spectrum: The most common issues with the achilles are: achilles tendinitis complete achilles ruptures partial achilles ruptures in the setting of a diagnosis of a tendinitis of the achilles, a partial achilles tear should also be considered. However, the initial management for both of these conditions is identical, so it won't make any difference in your treatment.
