See below: Treatment of ovarian cysts depend on size, symptoms and appearance on ultraound. Options include watchful waiting, birth control pills or surgery. Your doctor may recommend surgery if the cyst does not appear as a functional cyst (in this case a complex cyst) or if it has been growign or persisting over a few menstrual cycles or cause significant pain or other symptoms.
